slow day at work = trouble.

it causes a bit of a problem [for one's bank account, mainly] when you have a slow day at work and you are a scrapbooker working in a scrapbook store.

yeah.
i knew it would be a slow day today after the big sunday sale this past weekend.
so although i remembered to bring my current summer read with me to work today, i didn't even open the book.
instead.
the creative bug bit me... finally. :]

the thing is... i didn't anticipate much luck with scrapbooking, so i brought my book instead of a scrappy project. [last time i only brought some scrappy things and couldn't manage to create anything.]
so.
i ended up making a few purchases so that i had something to create.
ha. [at least i got my paycheck today.]

i'm not ready to share yet, but i am so excited about what i made today.
i guess i could at least tell you what it is... it's a big mini album for my trip to chicago. it's basically all from the making memories passport line, which i totally love. today the light bulb finally came on, and i figured out how i could use it. :]
i'm waiting for my july studio calico kit to arrive so that i can add a few more things that i didn't want to buy because i know they are coming in the kit. it wasn't too big of a deal to buy patterned papers that i know are coming because i can always use those again... but some of the embellishments i just decided to wait on. i'll post a photo when i have it completed.

yesterday i went to the somersett farmer's market with a few of my scrappy friends. i scored some seriously good fruit. i just finished a nectarine. yum. there's nothing quite like fresh picked fruit. last night i couldn't help myself and just had raspberries for dinner. i bought 3 cartons of raspberries for $8. you can't find them that cheap in the grocery store, and you certainly aren't going to come home with berries just picked that morning from the grocery store either. we're planning to go back as often as possible, and i'm looking forward to the good eats.

oh. and because he was jumping up on me as i was eating them, i tried to share my raspberries with helix. i'm not sure what he thought. he ate about 3 of them and then walked away. ha.

anyway. tonight i was hunting for photos from all of my trips to ocean beach [they date back to 2005] and i was reminded of two things:
1. iPhoto is amazing. i can locate a photo from 2005 and then 2008 within a minute or two of scrolling. and i can see every single other photo along the way. :]
2. it could just be that i got a new camera around the time i met james, but my photos are so much brighter since around the time i met him. i couldn't help but think about the parallel... dark photos = dark life. it's was striking to look as some of the photos from a few years ago and remember how much i was struggling for a period of time. then there are photos from a trip to san francisco that i took with carol, rebecca, and hector after summer physics, and in those photos i see myself starting to shine again. i remember starting off summer physics in a dreary state of mind, and i remember that trip and finally feeling happy again. so cool. a few months later i met james. there you go. find happiness for yourself and the rest will fall into place. :]
