bummer.

well my molecular bio test didn't go as well as i would have liked. the essay question was to design a protocol to determine the size of prokaryotic okazaki fragments. you could use any mutant e. coli, any reagents, and any methods you want. i looked up when i got to this part and i only had 5 minutes left. i froze. so i am instantly down to an 89%. huge bummer, but hopefully i will take this disappointment and turn it into motivation to work harder.

my cell bio test went ok. we had two unexpected essay questions. in the past, my professor has just given multiple choice tests and occasionally an essay for extra credit. well these two essays were required. i think i got them both. one was about k14 in epithelial cells. we had to design an experiment to show its activity, so i talked about labeling it with biotin and using immunoflourescense. [i hope that is right!] in the other, we had to basically tell how to determine if vesicles are moving on microtubules or microfilaments. so i just talked about using all the different drugs like nocadozol to knock out activity and monitor the vesicles afterwards. my professor makes these questions really long, so it's kind of hard to pick out what you really need to write about, plus it's hard to practice for these. i think i am going to start reading and relying on the text much more and then rely much less on my notes and the lectures. most of the test material seemed to come from the text and not really from the lectures.

i don't know. in both cases it was my wake up call. i am going to try to organize a study group for molecular bio every friday. it helps so much to talk about the notes instead of just reading them to yourself and trying to make sense of it in your head. plus if we do it every week, it won't accumulate to where it is overwhelming. james agreed to do it, and i think a few of our friends will be interested too. i really want to pull out and A in that class. i think it's probably one of the most interesting classes i've taken, and i just want to do well in there.

so after my cell bio test today, i had to tutor. my head was hurting so bad. so i got there and aubrielle was the only one home. i helped her for a bit and then we sort of messed around hiding from her neighbors who wanted to play. haha. i felt like a kid again. it was so nice. then mindy called me and told me i could just go because she wouldn't be home with the boys for a bit. i was so happy. so i went to the scrapbooking store. :] i've had a punch card filled up for a long time now, but i never seem to find $25 worth of stuff at one time. well the had all the new basic grey papers already, so i splurged. i bought the whole phoebe line! eek. i don't use a whole lot of basic grey either... i have lots of it, but it's probably some of the hardest paper for me to scrap with. this phoebe line was just too pretty though, and i really think i can use it more easily than the traditional basic grey. this line is a little more bright and fun. :]

i only have molecular bio in the morning and then it's the three day weekend. :] i am so tempted to sleep in and make it a 4 day weekend, but i just can't do that. i still don't have the ability to miss school for no reason without feeling terribly guilty. for tonight though, i think i might be able to scrap on a school night and not feel too guilty. :]
