teamwork.

i've mentioned before that james is a better cook than i am.
and i've mentioned that i'm trying to become a better cook.
but still, my favorite times are when we cook together.

tonight we made a pasta dish, that i like to call "andrew's pasta" because andrew [nelson] is the one who introduced us to the idea of using goat cheese in the pasta. normally, i refuse to mix the pasta with the sauce. i like to keep them segregated on my plate and then assemble each bite one by one as i eat. but when there is goat cheese involved, i am all about mixing it all together before serving it up. it sort of makes it a little more on the lasagna side, and i love it.

we also cooked up the chicken and rice soup tonight. i swear, once you make it from scratch, it's very hard to enjoy the canned variety. i'm so thankful that james handles the whole disassembly and cutting of the chicken breasts.

so yeah. it was a good night of teamwork in the kitchen. i'm just really happy that we can enjoy cooking together.

5. can you drive a stick shift? not so much. i know how to shift, but that's all.

9. what is your favorite sport to watch on tv? snowboarding for now. it's winter, after all.

11. have you ever dyed your hair? yep. it's been a while though.
12. favorite food? ha. i can't pick one. i love good food. chocolate fondue is a recent craving though.
13. what is the last movie you watched? she's just not that into you.
14. favorite day of the year? hmm. any day that brings the whole family together, hard to say what that is these days now that we have dispersed.
15. how do you vent anger? either go for a walk, blog, or talk to someone.
16. what was your favorite toy as a child? i loved my american girl dolls. also loved my bike. oh and remember the skip-it thing? i was in love with that thing one summer.
17. what is your favorite season? i like different things about all of them. usually half way though one, i am so ready for the next.
18. cherries or blueberries? blueberries.
19. do you want your friends to e-mail you back? it seems this isn't an email anymore.
20. who is the most likely to respond? hard to say who will even read this far. ha.

22. living arrangements? with james and helix. :]
23. when was the last time you cried? friday night. ridiculous.
24. what is on the floor of your closet? umm. a basket with clothes that i haven't looked at in over a year. a huge bag full of shopping bags. a box full of other junk from my apartment. yep. i realize how ridiculous that sounds, and that i need to just throw all of that stuff away, but i am who i am.
25. who is the friend you have had the longest that you are sending this to? not "sending" it, and i don't know who reads my blog really, so it's hard to say.
26. what did you do last night? made some slides of various bacteria in micro lab, ate a piece of pizza after lab that my ta's brought for us, talked to mandee, watched an hour of tv, played solitaire on my phone, read until i fell asleep.
27. what are you most afraid of losing? blah. i don't have a good answer to this that won't make me sad, so i'm just not going to think about it.
28. plain, cheese, or spicy hamburgers? usually i prefer cheese.
29. favorite dog breed? well. i obviously love helix. he's a shiba inu. i like dachshunds too. in fact, i nearly bought myself one for my birthday, but made myself walk away.
30. favorite day of the week? friday is nice.
31. how many states have you lived in? uno.
32. diamonds or pearls? diamonds, obviously.
33. what is your favorite flower? lilacs smell so good. i wish they lasted longer.

why 33 questions? seems like such an odd number. ah well. i'm off to bed. :]
